The new film contract for Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, entitled ‘Australia ’ will commence filming in North Queensland Australia May 2007, and will be directed by the esteemed Baz Luhrmann.

It’s exciting for the Australians to see their Princess Nicole Kidman, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador at the United Nations Development Fund (Unifem), and has been a UNICEF Ambassador and spokesperson in Australia for the Child Welfare Organization since 1994, to be coming home with hubby Keith Urban. Keith is blasting off his grand tour for his new album Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing, in Australia, and reportedly will be teaming up with Nicole between their busy schedules, after Nicole completes her commitments for three current films in the United States.

Fan Magazines all over the UK and Australia are buzzing about the young couples return. Allegedly they live on a ranch in Nashville, and have been very happy there, and reportedly Nicole is also excited to be coming home considering her last Australia film, Moulin Rouge, was in 2000.

‘ Australia ’, the film title, will be filmed in North Queensland Australia, in the small but charming town of Bowen, which is north of the Whitsunday Islands. I went to Bowen last week, and met with some of the locals. At the casting session, the Aussie Barbie was sizzling, curious and eager townsfolk chatted amongst themselves waiting for their turn. They all agreed on one thing, they were very delighted to have Nicole and Hugh come to their home town. One local was quoted to say, “It was the most exciting thing to happen to Bowen since the Mango." (Mangos are their main source of production.)

The filming will be commencing about the end of May. There will be horses, old homesteads, bush riders, and lots of bustles. Set in the 1930’s, Nicole Kidman plays an English Aristocrat who inherits a large ranch in Australia, that is about to be stolen by English Barons, and she hires a guide (Hugh Jackman) a bushy cattle driver, to drive 2,000 head of cattle across rugged and very dangerous terrain, to wind up facing the bombing of Darwin, shortly after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Reports reveal that Japanese pearl divers, Aborigines, and many locals are being cast to film in the bush, and will be part of the scheme. Aussie actor David Wenham will also be among the stars in this film, and I thought it looked like so much fun, I went for an audition, too.

It’s been widely reported that Nicole’s publicist Wendy Day said, "She is still in LA finishing her commitments to films she has made over the last 12 months, before she leaves to come back to Australia for an extended period to make Australia."

"She is very, very, very excited about coming back home. Obviously she can't be going back to America for any commitments while she is here filming Australia, so that all has to be finished first."

The plot for this film sounds very unparalleled to what has been filmed in Australia before, it’s a part of the Australian heritage, and Nicole Kidman is absolutely perfect for this role. It sounds as though it will be a challenge, as there is a lot of hands on with the livestock, but considering her former films, Cold Mountain with British Actor Jude Law, and Far and Away with Tom Cruise, she is no stranger to the urban life of the bush, and no doubt she will shine and adapt brilliantly.

That’s a wrap
