As a follow up to the article about Isabel Caros Nude Poster, in France, I did a little digging, and this is what I found out!
The News Paper Liberation had a telephone interview with Oliviero Toscani, the controversial photographer. The paper also had gone in-depth about the life of Isabel Caro, the model who posed nude, on October 1st 2007, featuring Toscanis controversial poster of the Campaign regarding Anorexia, as sponsored by a Design Company called Flash & Partners, in Italy.
From what I can see, there is no English translation on the news page, and if you are fluent en francais, the link below will be provided. If you haven't a favorite French translator, a link below will also be provided at the end of this article, that will actually translate the entire webpage. Most translators bear in mind, arent 100% accurate, however, it will give you the generalized idea.
This is a review of the article, posted in Liberation News in Paris, and is a summary, the entire article is listed below in the url for the Paris News Paper.
What did Toscani have to say in his telephone conversation?
In a nutshell, according to Liberation News in Paris, Toscani had no idea that this Poster would gain so much attention. He was quoted to say, "It is terrible, which is occurring. Isabelle is becoming a starlet. The media are in the train of the glorifier, therefore, indirectly, of glorifier the anorexia. Exactly the opposite that what I wanted to do with this contraversy... "
Isabel apparently put some distance between her and her mother, details about how it affected her family, her mother especially, with whom she didn't always see eye to eye, are in this article, she left Paris, to return to Marseilles France.
Isabel worked as a waitress, and was enlisted with an acting agency, she also worked as a hostess for receptions, until she found work with Toscani, the photographer, who was looking for an anorexic to use as a model for the campaign against this disease.
Isabel was born in Paris in 1982.
In 1992 anorexia was suggested by her aunt.
She worked in theatre, and played with the Florent course, in Paris , three days a week, in Provence, as Isabelle Huppert.
She devoted her career towards the theatre to Mde de Lassalle played by Huppert.
She doesn't hide the stains of redness from a tattoo, which was a kind of homage.
She likes Bach, Elfriede Jelinek and Rilke, and she dreams to have one day a child. She votes, "of course, but not Sarkozy!"
In 2006 she settled in Marseilles France .
2007, modeled for Toscani in a campaign for Anorexia, representing the Clothing Designer House.
The interesting thing about this article, are the responses from the general public in Paris, and all around France. The opinions there, are ones worth checking out, because they are so different from those in America and Italy. In Italy the billboard was accepted, and although agreed was crude, it was understood as means of getting out a message. In most countries, and in the Fashion world itself, after the death of three models during the run of one year, due to anorexia the Fashion world applauded such a bold statement.
London, Italy, Spain, Brazil take the topic of healthy models very seriously, and will ban any Models from their runway that are too-skinny to the point that their bodies could potentially give out. They care about the girls, and want them to have healthy productive careers, and are ensuring that happens by setting guidelines. What Isabel's poster represents, is the extremes that have gone too far in the Fashion industry, and its time it stopped. Spain tossing out all the mannequins in their stores that are under a size American six, (Spanish size 38), was a huge step, and hopefully all the other countries will follow their example.
However, it appears the opposite effect occurred in Paris. They didn't mention Models, or Fashion, or even the deaths of three models due to anorexia. Their topics were somewhat, different. But at the same time, so adorably cute! Thats Paris, they tell it they way they see it, and have such a charming way of putting things.
If you want to add a blog of your own, to connect with those in Paris, click on Liberation's link, and let them know your opinions.
In referring to Toscani, one points out that 'the worm is in the fruit'. Toscani is really an imbecile and more still the system mdiatico-advertising executive which makes it's fatty cabbages of them.
Another refers to him as a peeping tom, and to sum it up, he's making us peeping toms by looking at the poster, and then it questions how will that help anorexics?
My favorite out of all the quotes, was a very interesting point of view. It went something like this.
This photograph will be used for nothing, for an anorexic cannot see herself as it is, all she sees is herself too large.
