Dedicated to My Funny Valentines, you!
Here are some simple tips on what girls like, and what is socially acceptable to receive from a boyfriend, or your man.
Custom designing a card, written by you, or your favourite saying, lyric or poem means soo much. Refer to my article on love letters, if you want some tips on how to write the perfect love letter, and wow your girl this Valentines Day.
Girls are normally sentimental, and we appreciate and notice the small things. You don't have to take us to a basketball game, and have the game board light up, telling us that you love us, for us to already know that. Ok, that's a romantic gesture, and if it's your style go for it, she'll love, but I'm just saying that a huge gesture isn't always the way to satisfy your girl.
Whether it's your first girlfriend, your fiancé, or your wife, it's not always easy to pick a gift for her on Valentines Day. Let's explore some simple suggestions, and see if any would suit your sweetheart.
One thing to consider before you go shopping for your Valentine, is how long have you been with your girlfriend. If it's been a matter of weeks, it's not expected that the gift to too elaborate. Even a card with tickets to her favourite concert, or sports event, or even the theatre would do.
If you have been in a more serious relationship, over a year, you might want to spoil her more. By this time, you no doubt are in an intimate relationship, and can gear your gift to maybe a weekend get away, or a romantic dinner, dancing, and a nice gold chain.
If you are engaged, then you are definitely in a serious relationship and roses are a great place to start. Or maybe her favourite flowers. You could shower her all day with little text messages, telling her how you love her. Or you could refer to my article on writing a romantic poem or love letter, and shower her with affection while she awes over how sweet you were to put so much time and effort into showing your love to her. Before you're married, the romance seems to be the strongest. You aren't tired from work, kids, and stress of life. You have breaks from each other, and feel refreshed when you see each other. Keeping a sizzling Valentines night of excitement is in the cards for you this Valentine's Day, my friend. So let her know how you feel, take her out for a very special dinner, and if you are able to get away, take her away for the weekend. Have fun, and enjoy your romance to the fullest with girlfriend. I have some fun tips of presents below, so keep with me.
If you are married, and you want to her to have a romantic Valentines Day, then put some effort into it. It's what you do, that makes her smile, not what you buy. Although, diamond earrings and matching necklace, to go with her new outfit to wear while you take her out for a lobster dinner and dancing, wouldn't get a complaint. There are subtle ways to show her how you care, and can make the day special.
The hamper idea is great for married couples. You could have it delivered to her office, and sneak in after and steal her away to go for a picnic lunch. If she's home, then have it delivered, with roses, and wine, and take off work a for a few hours before the kids get out of school, and let the delivery guy get there first, and dash in after. Enjoy a nice lunch with her, and kidnap her and take her to chick flick movie, or a walk in the park, or plan for a babysitter after school, and take her to the honeymoon suit for supper, and you can dance, and do what ever..
You could also, buy her some outfits from Victoria Secret, ohhh girls love Victoria Secret. And it doesn't have to be anything too exotic. They are my favourite store ever, and they do have decent, gorges, comfy, stylish, clothes that she would love. You can check out Victoria Secret online, and have it delivered to her as well.
Without further ado, here are some creative ideas on getting your girl a memorable Valentines Day Present.
There are always the traditional gifts, so we'll start with those.
Hampers.
A hamper is a basket, you can get at a florist, or an online florist. It can have wine, food, flowers, chocolate, biscuits, cookies, sweets, and it can be delivered to her door, her work, with the intention that you two will share it on a picnic lunch, or home watching a movie.. or wherever.
Roses. I say roses instead of flowers, because Roses are the number one popular flowers to give your sweetheart on Valentines day. You can have them delivered to her, bring them yourself, you can buy her a teddy bear, that's holding the roses and time it to set it on her doorstep moments before she comes home. Or you can fill her bedroom with rose petals, when she wakes on Valentines Day morning. You can even trail rose petals leading down a garden path, or the hallway to the romantic dinner you just created, (or catered), just for two. There is another article that I wrote that goes into more detail about romantic flowers, what they mean, what the colors mean, or you can simply ask your florist.
Chocolates of course are another tradition. Heart shaped boxes, with little chocolates are cute. Some chocolates that are hand gift wrapped, are cute when put in a basket. It should accompany something though, like a handmade card, or a teddy bear, or maybe a chain or charm bracelet.
Fashion. Besides lingerie, girls also love trendy clothes. Moms usually won't spend on themselves, so surprising her with a trendy outfit would surprise her. Maybe even a leather or suede jacket. Or, a practical dress for work. Girls love to be comfortable, in jeans, t-shirts, business outfits, outer wear. Depending on if the snow is still falling during Valentines Day in your city. Like I mentioned above, Victoria Secret is a great place to start looking. Or if you know her favourite boutique, you could talk to the sales ladies who no doubt know her, and are familiar with her style.
Perfume
Ladies love love love, perfume. I have an article dedicated to the perfume, with tips on how to wear it, to, the different brand types.
Photos
Take your favourite photo of her, and copy it onto her Valentines Day card. You can buy her a digital picture frame, and get a USB card to go with it, and fill it with her favourite pics of the family, the kids, the dog, and you two. For her desk at work, or her favourite space at home.
Get the kids to help, and make her a keepsake portfolio. Women love keepsakes, and pasting all the pictures in a scrapbook would sure to melt her heart.
For you sweetheart, and all expense day at the spa, is always a great gift.
Jewry. Ladies love jewels. Diamonds, rubies, Safire's, gem stones and pearls. If you buy her a set, she'll be sure to be very thankful.
One last thing guys before I wrap this one up.
I can't stress it enough. It's not what you buy, her, or make her. It's what you do together that counts. It really matters to women, when men take the time to pay special attention to them. Complimenting her, and meaning it, praising her for all that she does, and letting her know that she is the love of your life, is what she's really looking for.
Happy Valentines
