Dedicated to My Funny Valentines, You!

Valentines Day is the day for lovers. The day we all can act a bit silly, have a bounce in our step, and relish in what we know as romance. Valentines Day is a global event, with countless cultures celebrating on February 14th, celebrating love, all for the romance that has been developed into their culture. And strangely enough, with 11 Priests, named Valentine, all having a tragedy on February 14th, something is up, and it has something to do with the title, of Valentine's Day.

But what of the Romance?

We all share an equal expectation from the art of Romance, and the past lovers, romantic tales of love's tragedy, love's losses, and love's gain through extraordinary circumstances that fell in the Love Stories we have all come to know and appreciate, plays a part of what we have come as a society to understand as Romance.

From the days of courtly love, from the Edwardian, and Victorian eras, to the stories told of Princesses and Princes' who live in the castles, to the Pharaoh of Cleopatra and Marc Antony, who both took their own lives believing the other was murdered.

Yes the famous Romance couples hold a strong key to what romance is to us. How they touch our hearts with their never ending strength of love for one another, tender respect, and terrible obstacles in true loves way.

The morals of the love stories, often leave us with a feeling of hope, that love could be waiting for us, a feeling of appreciation for the one with whom we have to love. God is known, in most societies as the creator of love, and these stories are there to remind us, of where we came from, and what we are capable of, when we feel the power of love.

Some Romances, have been built up to such levels, that the lovers almost seem immortal, untouchable by the rest of us. We look to them with adoration, and fondness. Even fictional characters, like Rose and Jack, on the Titanic, we all wept at Jack's demise, and felt Rose's pain. Or Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, when Catherine didn't choose him. The emotions of what we feel for romance runs deep inside us, and as human nature goes, Love will not be denied.

I even cry over television commercials, funny how they can break your heart, with a sad song, and a few disturbing images.. and the water works start.

More modern day time Romances, don't usually last long enough for us to view them as immortals. But we have grown fond of them nonetheless, and for this Valentine's Day, I wanted to take one article and celebrate some of our favourite love stories, and Celeb couples. From the cute couples, to the stormy relationship, some of them are broken up, divorced, or even deceased, but the time they spent together was significant, enough to be mentioned.
