I've got a great list of Irish Blessings for Weddings, New Homes, Family Blessings, Saint Patrick Blessings, Caim, and a few cute Leprechaun Blessings!

Irish Blessings are the most beautiful sentiments in the world. Even if you aren't Irish, the sweet sentiments can still be enjoyed by you and your family. Whether you are looking for a blessing to put in a card, or to write on a plaque, or whatever your reason, the Irish know the best words to say, and I've collected some of the sweetest, and most sincere Irish Blessings, and put them together for you. Hope you enjoy.
May those who love us, love us. And those who don't love us, May God turn their hearts; And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May He turn their ankles, So we will know them by their limping.

Blessing for the Children
O Thou, to whom to love and be are one,
hear my faith-cry for them who are more thine than mine.
Give each of them what is best for each.
I cannot tell what it is.
But Thou knowest.
I only ask Thou love them and keep them
With the loving and keeping
Thou didst Show to Mary's Son and Thine.

May Christ and His saints stand Between you and harm.
Mary and her Son.
St. Patrick with his staff.
Martin with his mantle.
Bridget with her veil.
Michael with his shield.
And God over all with His strong right hand.

Three things are of God;
And these are what Mary told to her Son,
For she heard them in heaven:
The merciful word;
The singing word;
And the good word.

May the power of these three holy things
Be on all the men and women of Erin for evermore.

Four corners to her bed
Four angels at her head
Mark, Matthew, Luke and John;
God bless the bed that she lies on.

New moon, new moon,
God bless me
God bless this house and family.

Blessing For Hearth-
Keepers Brighid of the Mantle,
encompass us,
Lady of the Lambs, protect us,
Keeper of the Hearth, kindle us.
Beneath your mantle, gather us,
And restore us to memory.

Mothers of our mother,
Foremothers strong.
Guide our hands in yours,
Remind us how
To kindle the hearth.
To keep it bright,
To preserve the flame.
Your hands upon ours,
Our hands within yours,
To kindle the light,
Both day and night.

The Mantle of Brighid about us,
The Memory of Brighid within us,
The Protection of Brighid keeping us
From harm,
From ignorance,
From heartlessness.
This day and night,
From dawn till dark,
From dark till dawn.
* Brighid is the Irish Saint who has the same name as the reverred Celtic Goddess; as hearth-keeper, she is venerated throughout the Celtic World.

Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world.
George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) Irish Playwright

May the saint protect ye-
An' sorrow neglect ye,
An' bad luck to the one
That doesn't respect ye
t' all that belong to ye,
An long life t' yer honor-
That's the end of my song t' ye!

Deep peace of the running waves to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the smiling stars to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the watching shepherds to you.
Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you  AN OLD GAELIC PRAYER

An Old Irish Wedding Blessing
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

Lorica
In the days of old, the Celtic church created breastplate prayers, or lorica, which they proclaimed the presence of God. The prayers were made, so that the people would see the reality of God. When a person reads aloud the prayer on a breasplate, they are acknowledging that God exists.

The rose and the shamrock
Will always remind me
Of lanes in the hills
That I left far behind me.
E. GARY BROOKS

Saint Patrick Prayer.
I bind myself today
The power of God to hold and lead
His eye to watch,
His might to stay
His ear to hearken to my need
The wisdom of my God to teach
His hand to guide
His shield to ward
The word of God to give me speech
His Heavenly Host to be my guard.

Blessing Of The Three
The Sacred Three
My fortress be Encircling me,
Come and be round
My hearth, my home.

Fend Thou my kin
And every sleeping thing within
From scathe, from sin.
Thy care our peace T
Through mid of night
To light's release.

Caim
The Celtic Christians had a ritual they called caim, where they had enclosed a drawn circle around themselves, symbolizing the encircling love of God.
A Caim Prayer
The Mighty Three
My protection be
Encircling me
You are around
My life, my home
Encircling me
O Sacred Three
The Mighty Three

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter
Lullabies, dreams and love ever after.
Poems and songs with pipes and drums
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes...
That's the Irish for you!

Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire-
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow
And may trouble avoid you, where ever you go.

The Shamrock
There's a dear little plant that grows in our isle
'Twas Saint Patrick himself sure that set it
And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile
And a tear from his eyes oft-times wet it
It grows through the bog,
through the brake,
through the mireland.
And they call it the dear little Shamrock of Ireland

The Leprechaun
Near a misty stream in Ireland in the hollow of a tree,
Live mystical, magical leprechauns who are clever as can be.
With their pointed ears, and turned up toes and little coats of green,
The leprechauns busily make their shoes and try hard not to be seen.
Only those who really believe have seen these little elves.
And if we are all believers,
We can surely see for ourselves.

St. Patrick
May St. Patrick guard you wherever you go and guide you in whatever you do--and may his loving protection be a blessing to you always.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back.
The sun shine warm on your face,
The rain fall soft on your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

May God Grant You Many Years To Live,
For Sure He Must Be Knowing
The Earth Has Angels
All Too Few
And Heaven Is Overflowing

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you are dead.

Irish Blessing
May you always have
Walls for the winds
A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.

Blessing for a New Home
A blessing upon your new home,
A blessing upon your new hearth,
A blessing upon your new dwelling,
Upon your newly-kindled fire.
A blessing upon your tallest grass,
A blessing upon your fruitful partner,
A blessing upon your growing son's,
Upon your growing daughter's.
A blessing upon the household's helpers,
A blessing upon the children yet unborn,
A blessing upon the wise parents,
Upon your occupation.
A blessing upon your goods and income,
A blessing upon your kith and kin.
A blessing upon you in light or darkness,
Each day and night of your lives.

May your home be filled with laughter
May your pockets be filled with gold
And may you have all the happiness
Your Irish heart can hold.
May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Hi Judi, I am so happy you are enjoying the Irish Blessings. The Irish have the most sincere Blessings of any culture in the world, and being a Colahan explains a lot. Your little girl is a adorable, I hope she keeps writing, and follows in her moms footsteps, at growing up to being a great writer. Happy Saint Patrick's Day, to both of you. Sacreeta
